Oral vaccine for high-risk regions

Overview

Cholera is a severe diarrhoeal illness caught from contaminated water. The oral vaccine also gives some protection against traveller's diarrhoea.

Who needs it

Aid workers, travellers to slum or refugee settings, and adventure travellers in outbreak areas.

Dosing schedule

2 oral doses, 1–6 weeks apart. Second dose at least 1 week before travel.

Common side effects

Mild stomach upset, nausea.
